Ulunthu Soru with Egg Avial Recipe

Ingredients (Egg Avial) :

  • 4 or 5 boiled eggs
  • Coconut (as required, chopped)
  • Teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • Four red chillies
  • Teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • Teaspoon of pepper
  • Teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • Salt
  • Oil

Ingredients (Ulunthu Soru) :

  • Ten garlic cloves
  • Teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • Teaspoon of hing (aesofitida)
  • Teaspoon of methi seeds
  • One cup of any rice (I used matta)
  • One cup black urid dal
  • Salt
  • Oil

Method (Egg Avial) :

Set aside the mustard seeds and add everything to a grinder and make a paste. In the vessel add oil and mustard seeds and temper gently.

Once tempered add the paste and cook for two minutes. Add the boiled eggs and salt and cook until ready.

Method (Ulunthu Soru) :

In a vessel add everything apart from the rice, and fry for a few minutes. Add the rice and five cups. Cook until most of the water is gone.

Serve and enjoy hot!
